August 2020

Eleazar was born 04.20.2020, weighing 5lbs 11oz. He was 4 weeks premature but healthy as could be and was sent home the very next day. His arrival was our happiest day! We are a family of 4. Eleazar has an older brother Ezellio who is 5 and adores him just as much as we do. He loves singing to him and tickling his little toes! He is very loved and missed dearly back home! On 06.29.2020 my youngest boy Eleazar who is just 10 weeks old was life flighted to OHSU in Portland due to his white blood count being extremely high. His hemoglobin, red blood cells and platelets were extremely low. Prior to leaving Klamath Falls he was given a blood transfusion. We have been here in the PICU receiving blood transfusions and platelets while getting his numbers to a safe zone. We just received news no parents want to hear. On 07.01.2020 the OHSU team informed us our sweet baby boy has Leukemia (ALL). They suspect he was born with it and has been fighting all along. On this very day they did a lumbar tap where they placed chemo within the spine and placed a permanent Hickman in his little neck and chest because his tiny veins are too small and keep blowing. He started his first chemotherapy on 07.03.2020. He tolerated it very well other than common swelling due to steroids. He has continued to be in good spirits so happy, bright eyed and alert. With Eleazar being so young and fragile, if everything goes well and as planned, we are expected to be here at least 6 months, if not longer. Our older boy is unable to come stay with us or come see his baby brother here in Portland because of Covid-19. We live 4 hours away, so this has been really hard on him. We are going to try our hardest to maintain a familiar setting for our oldest son, Ezellio. Eddie, the father of my boys will now be the sole provider and caretaker of Ezellio and our home. I unfortunately had to quit my job I loved very much so I could be by Eleazar’s side permanently! I don’t know what to expect next or if our plan will even work out, but we’re going give it our best shot! We are a very strong family, WE ARE GONNA BEAT THIS CANCER WITH LOVE!
